the before - the charlotte letter

She has been feeling it for a while now - that sense of awakening. There is a gentle rage simmering inside her, and it is getting stronger by the day. She will hold it close to her - she will nurture it and let it grow. She won't let anyone take it away from her. It is her rocket fuel and finally, she is going places. She can feel it down to her very core - this is her time. She will not only climb mountains - she will move them too.

'Her Time'  by Lang Leav

There are many days I feel defeated. I feel run down, out of sorts, out of creativity. This age of social media presses us to show the best and most beautiful life. We are encouraged to share "the after" and not "the before". But it is the before that makes the after beautiful - worth sharing with Instagram. The before is the story - it is the plot that leads to the fairytale ending that the world gets to see. The before is the battle with the orcs, or the insane journey to Mordor (Jenn, I know you will appreciate these references!). Without the before, the after would not exist. There would be no lesson learned, no inspirational quote, and no growth.

I want to make it a goal of mine to embrace more of the before moments in my life. Where was I a month ago? A year ago? 5 years ago? What and who has made me into the person that I am today? What lessons have I learned? I want to look at how far I have come - both in life in general and in my photography. I want to embrace more of the storylines in my life. I want to figure out the pivotal moments that made me want to progress and make a difference in my life. I want to "climb mountains and move them too".

And I encourage you all to take a moment and look at who you are. What is your story? What is a lesson you have learned that has helped to shape who you are at this moment?

27 - i'm in heaven.

Rhyming is also my jam.

I just wanted to pop on here quickly and thank EVERYONE who made my 27th birthday the best one yet! I have never felt more loved and appreciated by friends than I did this past week. Making friends as an adult has been a journey, but I have finally found the perfect group of friends who are extremely selfless and there for you when you need help.

I love you all so much (people reading, family,  and my amazing, beautiful, strong, hilarious friends)!

And special thank you to Elexis for the most beautiful cake that I have even been given! :D

i get by with a little help from my friends.

Yay! Another lyric title!

But seriously, I LOVE my friends. And I cannot thank them all enough for everything that they do for me, big and small. There are two specific ladies that I want to quickly shout out.

Jenn, a fellow Nova Scotia woman and introvert - she is my rock. She has been such an incredible listener to my ramblings and concerns as well as an inspiration. She has overcome some not-so-easy obstacles that I, too, have trouble with. And now, she is has started a FANTASTIC (and I mean it!) blog about her discoveries in the area which we have both been posted to. If you are curious as to where we live, what there is to and see (and drink), then you need to go check out her blog, Posted Discoveries (what an awesome name, eh?!) and Instagram. She is amazing and I am so thankful to have her as a friend and my go-to horror movie goer!

Haha! I need more photos of this beauty - but it truly sums up her amazing personality!

Elexis, the gal who started dragging me out of my house and on adventures. And for that, I am so thankful! If it wasn't for Elexis, I would not have seen and been to so many beautiful spots in and around the Bay of Quinte and other parts of Southern Ontario. She has also helped me get my camera out more and inspired me to be more creative. She herself is the queen of DIY and makes the most beautiful blankets, home decor, and clothing (coming soon!). If you are in the market for something made with love and a little bit of sunshine, you should check out her Facebook Page - Something About Sunshine Co. - and her Instagram

(Elexis is probably the most free-spirited person I know and I think this photo mirrors that!)

I am so lucky to have these women and the few other's that I know (I don't know that many women that well) in my life. This posting has been hard, and I get homesick quite often, but these women are the silver-lining to being here.

Mushy post over.

But like, I love my friends and I love having friends - so yeah!

Who pushes you to be better?
