mornings downtown.

I didn't think that I could love downtown Belleville more than I already did, but I was proven wrong.

I have spent a lot of time down there lately - and loving every minute of it. The other morning, I woke up at 6:15am (not by choice), and saw that the sun was making an appearance - finally! - so, for some reason, my head told me to head downtown. And I am so happy that I did!

I saw a whole new side of downtown. Probably a side that not many have experienced. The streets were quiet, the birds were chirping, and the sun laid this blanket of warmth along brick walls that line the street. It was a site that residents and visitors need to see!

So, if you are in the area - or even in your own town - and you find yourself up at the buttcrack of dawn, then head downtown and take in the piece and quiet of a spot that is normally filled with the hustle and bustle of people on a mission.

pure honey.

Yes! Another post about my favourite boutique on the planet!!

I swear, every time I go into this boutique it feels like the first time! It is always filled with different items and different colour schemes - it always feels fresh! And I just cannot get over that exposed brick! It's stunning.

Even if you don't have much money, you should pop down to get inspiration and chat with the extremely friendly women that work this shop. You could not ask for a better experience in any store - these women truly love what they do, love what the store has, and love to help you find what will truly flatter your body and personality! I most enjoy that they all get excited about the pieces in the store and have a different positive reaction to each one you hold up.

Monique and the few other women that work here and really made this spot feel like a 'shopping sanctuary'. That may sound weird but if you have been here, you know what I am saying. They will remember your face and always greet you with the biggest and most sincere smile.

I cannot say enough good things about this place and I hope that if any of you live in or visit the area, that you go to Pure Honey Boutique!

You can find this little gem at 217 North Front Street, Belleville, ON.

PS. I was told that there is a big shipment hitting the store sometime soon - so follow them on their  Facebook and Instagram for updates! I can't wait!! :D

Thank you to Monique for allowing me to take these photos (she will never say no), for letting me take a photo of her - even though she was hesitant - and for always being such a kind and wonderful person to everyone!!

2 days til' B-Day.

In 2 days, I say farewell to 26, and I am slightly sad about it. Not only because my age changes - only people turning 16, 19, and 21 like that - but also because of all of the incredible things that have come my way this past year.

Just to list a few things:

  1. I shot my first wedding and my first elopement.
  2. I was published in the Bay of Quinte Tourism Guide - still on cloud nine from that one!
  3. I have built the greatest of friendships that I know will last a lifetime.
  4. I did two maternity sessions and got to meet both babies - seems like a strange thing to be excited about but it means a lot!
  5. I did a re-vamp of my website.
  6. I did an anniversary / family gathering shoot at the most beautiful spot in Tweed, Ontario!
  7. I went on a road-trip with my husband around PEI!
  8. My photos have been shared by brands that I love - ie. American Eagle (where you can find this BEAUTIFUL jumpsuit!), Eclipse, and My Home Apparel (a Nova Scotia company)!
  9. I have started getting into real estate photography - a secret thing that I haven't really shared!
  10. And I have come to love myself a little bit more.

There have been so many other amazing opportunities that I have been given as a 26 year old (one which I will spill in a few weeks!!). I am sad to call it quits on 26, but if 26 was this good, I cannot wait to see what 27 will be like!

queenston.

See what I did there? No? Okay.

These photos were taken in the BEAUTIFUL city of Kingston (now do you get the title? no? okay.)!

Mark and I had a day off together on a weekday and thought that it would be the perfect time to hit up Kingston - and it was! The sun was shining, the streets were quiet (for a city) and I was feelin' fancy in my jumpsuit from American Eagle and my $25 coat from H&M. And to top off the outfit, we found the coolest phone booth ever! I have never seen one of these in real life before and never would I have thought there would be one in downtown Kingston. It is such a fun and unique thing to have. You would be surprised at how many people love this type of phone booth - we should really bring them back, even if there is no phone in them, haha! #allabouttheinsta

On a serious note, this outfit rocks! I have never felt more beautiful AND strong in an outfit before. It's just a simple jumpsuit but does it ever compliment the body. I felt like I could run the world - okay, maybe a little overdramatic, but you get it. I felt awesome! And the first thing that Mark said to me was "Wow! You look so tall!". Now, that may sound like something silly to get excited about, but for a 26 year old woman who is pushing 5'1, being told that you look tall is a huge compliment (sidenote: I was wearing booties with a slight heal, and obviously clothes don't make you grow, haha!).

Jumpsuits are the greatest clothing invention ever! They look amazing on every body type and are an entire outfit in just one piece. They are the "easy peasy lemon squeezy" of the fashion world. And you need one (or 10) in your life! I personally plan on living in them this Spring and Summer and I know just where to get them!

*Hint: American Eagle ;)

Cozy Grey Days.

The coziest sweaters are the ones that have sleeves longer than your arms so that you can tuck your hands inside, am I right? I love this sweater from TopShop. It's the perfect sweater for the Spring weather that is slowly making it's way to us here in Canada (well, Ontario and East. Sorry Prairie provinces!).

I love a cute sweater because it allows the "basic" me to look a little more put together while also staying warm. I still love a good ol' "jeans and t-shirt" look, but I have been preferring a "jeans and sweater" outfit. Everything looks good with jeans my friends, even more jeans (aka. jean jackets)! Almost all of my jeans, or I should say, jeggings, are from American Eagle. I may work there but I have been wearing AE jeans/jeggings since I was 16 (10 years!!) and I swear by them! Great quality, decent price, and the stretch-to-fit has only gotten better. I live in my jeans, so comfort is key. (Sorry, got a little off topic. I just really love AE pants and want to share my thoughts with whoever will read them).

Feelin' Girly.

It's not too often that I a) wear a skirt, or b) find one that fits me properly. Well, I found my newest and greatest love (I feel like I will say that about every new piece I get..). I saw this skirt right before I checked out at the TopShop section in Hudson's Bay. Normally, I have a hard time finding pieces that are "me" and within my somewhat stubborn price range at TopShop. But I hit the jackpot this day!

I saw the skirt, saw it was on sale, looked at the size and went for it (fun fact: I almost NEVER try on clothes before purchasing). And I was lucky enough to also find on this day a beautiful beige peacoat at H&M for only ... wait for it ... $25!! Uh, heck yes!

This new "journey" into fashion is honestly - sort of embarrassed to say - such a thrill (I really have no life, haha!). I have begun this fascination with walking into clothing stores with no intention of buying anything, and just making outfit ideas for when I am ready to buy the item. Is that weird? I won't wait for your answer. It is weird.

All in all, I love this skirt from TopShop, this jacket from H&M, just the whole outfit (the black one piece is from Ardene)! It makes me feel beautiful, confident, and very much a woman. I just can't get enough of it!

Sort of an out of my element type of question for you - would any of you be interested in posts on outfits under a certain dollar amount? I used to see other fashion bloggers do them and they are popular on YouTube, so I thought, if people are interested, I would do like one post like that a month?? Let me know! (I may just do it even if no one says, haha!)

you've been blocked.

Ever since I declared my love for a pink coat, I have been on the hunt for more pieces that bring me joy. H&M is filled with infinite pieces that made me feel warm and fuzzy and this colour block sweater is one of them. It's simple - like me - but it has the pop of colour that I for some reason tend to avoid/ overlook. It's cute, comfy, soft as all heck, and very warm! Perfect for shooting on a -10 degree (celcius) afternoon.

As I have mentioned before, I am not a fashion connoisseur. I am not caught up with the trends but it is really not my intent to be. I want to share my style with you all because why not?! I have only two fashion posts but they are my favourite posts to create! It is so much fun to go out, search for a piece or two and get creative with them - how do they fit into my style? what can I add to make this me? where should I shoot the photos? what shoes should I wear? hair - curly or straight? (literally the only hairstyles that I can accomplish, haha!). I have just discovered a new side of myself, and I kind of like her!

Don't get me wrong, photographing people is still my favourite thing to do, like ever! I LOVE nothing more than capturing people's love and laughter in a photo.  But I am excited to be doing these posts, to get my creative juices flowing, to expand my blog and brand (I am still trying to figure out what my brand is..), and share another side of me with all of you!

And I really appreciate all of the lovely comments on my last (first) fashion post! You are all so lovely and kind! Leave a comment letting me know your favourite fashion blogger (maybe it's you!) because I want check them all out!

PS. The jeans that I am wearing are the MOST comfortable pants ever and they are from American Eagle - you need these jeans, my friend!

:)

Downtown.

If there is one place in this "city" - more like large town, and that's coming from someone from a small-ish town! - that I LOVE, it's downtown!! I don't believe that this part of the city gets enough credit - just look at it! So much charm, beautiful light, stunning brick buildings, and perfectly located next to the river. You just can't beat this place - and this is only Front Street!

This street alone is full of fantastic local businesses (Capers, Pure Honey Boutique, and Boretski Gallery just to name a few) and the amount of work that the city has put in to give downtown a "facelift" is definitely showing. I am looking forward to the finished product and to watch this downtown scene grow with more local businesses!

Keep an eye out for more posts about downtown Belleville and some of it's local businesses! My next post is all about my newly found FAVOURITE boutique (yes, the one I mentioned above) that everyone needs to visit, shop at and experience for themselves!

AND if you are in or near the area and want to collaborate or you just want to go take some photos, let me know! This area is full of incredible talent and I want to meet you all! :)
