i don't know about you, but i'm not 22.

Are you getting sick of my cheesy titles yet?

K, good. Me either.

Today, I am 27. I don't particularly like this number as I am not a fan of the number 2 (it's alright I guess) or 7. But, nonetheless, I am here. 27.

Hello.

To ring in the new year/ day, I thought that I should dress for the occasion. And with this beauty of a coat/ blazer (crazer?) from my favourite local boutique, Pure Honey. It's the kind of piece that says (to me anyway), "Hi. My name is *insert name*, it's my birthday, and I am ready to act like the adult the my nieces and nephews are told I am. Can you tell I think that I am funny?

But in all seriousness, I love this piece! It's a great transition piece from not only cold Spring to warm Spring (haha!), but also from 26 to 27. I ready to kick some butt, take some names, sign some papers, photograph some weddings, and be somewhat of a professional!

Happy Birthday to me, two of my cousins, and my girls, Mandy Moore and Daisy Ridley!! - oh, and Steven Seagal, gotta wish that man a happy birthday, too!

And to everyone else born on the 10th of April - happiest of birthdays to you!!

2 days til' B-Day.

In 2 days, I say farewell to 26, and I am slightly sad about it. Not only because my age changes - only people turning 16, 19, and 21 like that - but also because of all of the incredible things that have come my way this past year.

Just to list a few things:

  1. I shot my first wedding and my first elopement.
  2. I was published in the Bay of Quinte Tourism Guide - still on cloud nine from that one!
  3. I have built the greatest of friendships that I know will last a lifetime.
  4. I did two maternity sessions and got to meet both babies - seems like a strange thing to be excited about but it means a lot!
  5. I did a re-vamp of my website.
  6. I did an anniversary / family gathering shoot at the most beautiful spot in Tweed, Ontario!
  7. I went on a road-trip with my husband around PEI!
  8. My photos have been shared by brands that I love - ie. American Eagle (where you can find this BEAUTIFUL jumpsuit!), Eclipse, and My Home Apparel (a Nova Scotia company)!
  9. I have started getting into real estate photography - a secret thing that I haven't really shared!
  10. And I have come to love myself a little bit more.

There have been so many other amazing opportunities that I have been given as a 26 year old (one which I will spill in a few weeks!!). I am sad to call it quits on 26, but if 26 was this good, I cannot wait to see what 27 will be like!

queenston.

See what I did there? No? Okay.

These photos were taken in the BEAUTIFUL city of Kingston (now do you get the title? no? okay.)!

Mark and I had a day off together on a weekday and thought that it would be the perfect time to hit up Kingston - and it was! The sun was shining, the streets were quiet (for a city) and I was feelin' fancy in my jumpsuit from American Eagle and my $25 coat from H&M. And to top off the outfit, we found the coolest phone booth ever! I have never seen one of these in real life before and never would I have thought there would be one in downtown Kingston. It is such a fun and unique thing to have. You would be surprised at how many people love this type of phone booth - we should really bring them back, even if there is no phone in them, haha! #allabouttheinsta

On a serious note, this outfit rocks! I have never felt more beautiful AND strong in an outfit before. It's just a simple jumpsuit but does it ever compliment the body. I felt like I could run the world - okay, maybe a little overdramatic, but you get it. I felt awesome! And the first thing that Mark said to me was "Wow! You look so tall!". Now, that may sound like something silly to get excited about, but for a 26 year old woman who is pushing 5'1, being told that you look tall is a huge compliment (sidenote: I was wearing booties with a slight heal, and obviously clothes don't make you grow, haha!).

Jumpsuits are the greatest clothing invention ever! They look amazing on every body type and are an entire outfit in just one piece. They are the "easy peasy lemon squeezy" of the fashion world. And you need one (or 10) in your life! I personally plan on living in them this Spring and Summer and I know just where to get them!

*Hint: American Eagle ;)

Downtown.

If there is one place in this "city" - more like large town, and that's coming from someone from a small-ish town! - that I LOVE, it's downtown!! I don't believe that this part of the city gets enough credit - just look at it! So much charm, beautiful light, stunning brick buildings, and perfectly located next to the river. You just can't beat this place - and this is only Front Street!

This street alone is full of fantastic local businesses (Capers, Pure Honey Boutique, and Boretski Gallery just to name a few) and the amount of work that the city has put in to give downtown a "facelift" is definitely showing. I am looking forward to the finished product and to watch this downtown scene grow with more local businesses!

Keep an eye out for more posts about downtown Belleville and some of it's local businesses! My next post is all about my newly found FAVOURITE boutique (yes, the one I mentioned above) that everyone needs to visit, shop at and experience for themselves!

AND if you are in or near the area and want to collaborate or you just want to go take some photos, let me know! This area is full of incredible talent and I want to meet you all! :)
